Lake Camanche Fishing Report 6/30/18 by Rick Novotny

July 2, 2018 by Ron Howe

Spent some time fishing Camanche on Saturday. My wife had asked me to take her fishing recently and I was pretty excited for us to spend some time on the lake together. She has never fished for bass. We started early to get some time in before the boat traffic got too busy. Our first stop was at the north shore islands fishing near the trees and the edges of the islands between 5 and 15 feet of water. She boated the first fish on a Ned rig after some practice throwing her new set up. We caught a couple more small ones and headed west to fish a couple main lake points. The points produced a few more on the Ned rig. I threw a River2sea 168 baby bass S-waver for a while which had a bunch of followers but none that wanted to commit. We then headed south to fish a few islands and rock piles. I rigged a couple rods with 3.8 Keitechs in sexy shad color and 3/8 oz underspins. I used my Lowrance electronics to locate fish sitting on the edges of drop offs. The change triggered some bigger fish in 15-25 feet of water by letting them sink and slow rolling them. We had a blast! Looking forward to fishing with her again soon!
Water temp:79-82
Water Clarity: slightly stained
Wind: light to moderate
