Kevin Cornwell and I got to fish Lake Camanche both Thursday and Friday the 22nd and 23rd with my old man in my boat and Kevin fishing out of his own boat. Overall fishing was slow the bites were few and far between. Combined we caught about 15 fish in 2 days but the ones we did catch were for the most part all good fish and mixed both blacks and spots with most in 3-6 lb range the biggest was just under 6 lbs.
We both got to the lake each day to find dense fog and water temps from 59-60 degrees, the dense fog was a little tricky to navigate first thing in the morning but overall helped us because it acted like cloud cover keeping the fish shallow and that’s where we got our bites until it burned off each day then we had to move out deeper to 25-40 feet over the offshore island tops. The bites we got shallow in 5-15 foot of water came on 6-8 inch swimbaits, Alabama rigs and drop shots, the key was to cover lots of water they were not bunched up in one spot! Once we fished deeper we were getting bites dragging TNT M-80 jigs in mixed colors, drop shots and dart heads both rigged with 6” Roboworm’s on them. If your planning on heading out there be patient, but be ready when you do get a bite, cover a lot of water and don’t be afraid to fish both really shallow and really deep. Good Luck! -Jon Bradford
