Future Pro Tour Delta Pre Fish Expo
OAKLEY, Ca. – Anglers getting ready for the fourth event of the Thunder Valley Outdoors/Future Pro Tour season – “Rollin on the River,” which will be held on the California delta June 5th (FPT’s norther region) and June 6th (FPT’s central region), will have every chance at success as the Future Pro Tour will host its first ever “Delta Pro – Pre-fish Expo” the evening before the event at the Hook, Line, and Sinker in Oakley.
Anybody that knows will tell you that the bite in June on the California Delta can be either a grand or grievous affair as depending on how prepared you are, you can either “bust” a 30 pound limit, or “bust out” and come to the scales with a load of “rats” (a limit of fish that measure 13-14 inches). Ultimately, the key to success is simple and really comes down to one thing: how prepared are you to meet the delta’s challenges?
In truth, this “Delta Pro – Pre-fish” Expo is designed to do just that – help you meet the challenges and get you prepared for competition on what many consider to be the best bass fishery in the county. Joining us for the Expo, will be over ten of the best bass pros in the west prepared to share with each of you, some of the secrets it took many of them a lifetime of fishing to learn.
The format for the Expo will be unique in that rather than our pro-support staff members speaking to anglers in traditional “stand-up lecture” style, each pro-support staff member will be stationed at their own booth, to provide detailed information to any angler about the particular style of bait they are representing.
So are you interested in frog fishing? Go see the pro standing behind the frog table. Want to know exactly how the “punching” technique works and how to rig a punch skirt? Head over to the “punching” table and talk with Bub Tosh of Paycheck Baits to get squared away. Want to know the particulars about big gnarly jigs fished next to delta tules? Then head on over to the jig booth and visit top delta pro Ken Mah who will be stationed at the jig table. Don’t understand delta tidal flows and how they can affect delta fishing? Go see delta expert Gene Buchholz at the “delta tides” booth. You get the idea.
Just like dining at a smorgasbord, YOU will get to pick and choose exactly what you want to learn about, which is sure to help make you more successful during the next day’s event! In addition, a casting demo pond will be set up so that you can see first-hand – from the pros, how to properly work each bait that is represented.
NAVIONICS western region representative Tshombe Moore will also be on hand to help you understand, upgrade or program your NAVIONICS chips, and Len Vinci of Johnson Outdoors will be on duty to help you with any technical questions you may have regarding your sonar units and new Humminbird “side imaging” technology.
As part of the Expo, and after the pro seminars are complete, you can also attend the extremely popular “Sonar Basics” class taught by Len Vinci, right there at the Hook, Line and Sinker. You will be amazed at what you don’t know about basic sonar, and the unit you own – but this class will cover it all – no matter what brand you own. The class will go from 6-8pm. Call the FPT offices to reserve a spot as the class ALWAYS fills quickly.
Dobyns Rods will have an array of beautiful rods for you to look at as Richard Dobyns and other Dobyns Rods pro-staff will be present to help you find the proper rod for competition. The newest models of Ranger Boats will also be on display with demo rides offered to anyone that desires to schedule a test drive and much, much, more!
All are welcome to attend this Delta Pre-fish Expo event – even if you don’t fish FPT events. FREE BBQ, refreshments and a FREE raffle will be provided, so come on down and join us for an event that could help put you on top of the leader board at the Future Pro Tour’s biggest event of the year -“Rollin on the River” on the California delta!
See you all there!
