Delta fishing report 6/5
I fished the CA Delta today from 12pm till 6 pm and found decent sucsess with top water. It was a overcast, warm and humid day with a high temp of 74 degrees. I fished from Whites slough to Mildred Isl. We caught several fish on River To Sea Bully Wa’s in the baby duck color. The fish were holding on rip rap leveee banks with sparse grass. The water temp varried from 61-67 degrees and water clarity varied greatly depending on location. The 5 fish limit today was close to 17lbs. The best tip I can give is to fish to isolated cover on the levee walls. Whether it be a weed clump, tule clump or out cropping in the levee itself the fish are relating to the “something differnt” on the wall. Also fish with good equipment, the quieter the cast the better! I use a Dobyns Champion 736C so that I can make soft and subtle roll cast to the bank without spooking the fish and yet still have plenty of power to battle those hot post spawn fish. The frog bite should be very good this upcoming weekend with the stable weather coming and I look to see some big top water fish weighed in at the “Future Pro Tour” tournament on Saturday.
Good luck everyone! ” Dan Wells”
