Camp Far West Fishing report 12-22-13
Water Temp 45 to 49 With a medium stain and slight breeze to start the day.
Today I had the pleasure of fishing with one of California’s bright and upcoming stars Austin Wilson.Austin finished 2nd for Angler of the year in California’s largest tournament trail. And today he showed me why.The bite on CFW is slow right now.we started the day on main lake points throwing jigs and the A-rig.The A-rig never got bit today but the small swim bait’s fished by them self’s were catching fish. The jig bite was steady but by no means was it on fire. The drop-shot also proved itself to be non-effective today by offering up only one fish and the shaky-head kept us awake with a few small fish here and there. The big story of the day is Austin tying on a swim bait that you would typically only see at body’s of water like Clear Lake or those known to hold large fish.I think it was the third cast when he hooked this nice six ponder.Austin got five bite’s on the swim bait with the last one breaking him off. The lesson of the day was to not be afraid of trying something new and unorthodox-ed.You might just catch the biggest fish in the lake.
Good Luck Bob Tyler
