12 – 09 -12 Camp Far West Fishing Report by Bob Tyler.
I launched from the north shore ramp to 55 degree water temps and a heavy stain. To my surprise the lake is 100 % full. I started out fishing on the ledge just North of the damn out from the spill-way. The birds gave away the location of the bait fish and I’ve had a lot of success in this area in the past. The Drop-shot was my first and only weapon of the day, rigged with a six inch margarita mutilator and fished between twelve and eighteen feet deep. Right off the bat I was on the fish.and it never let up. I fished from nine o’clock to one and boated close to thirty spotted bass.most of witch were in the two pound range.(It was a Blast.)At the ramp I spoke with some fellow angler’s and they reported a good bite up the river arm on a purple and brown jig fished shallow. Now that the storms have passed and things are starting to settle down a bit, I think the fall and winter bite at Camp Far West is going to be over the top.So bundle up and go give it a shot. You won’t be sorry.
Good Luck Bob Tyler
