Dan Wells and Jon Bradford fished Clear Lake Saturday with good success for quality bites. I would not say the bite is quiet wide open yet but almost every bite seems to be a big fish! The water temp ranges from 58-61 degrees and the water is very clear in some places and a light stain in others. We found our best bites on swimbaits and reaction baits in the morning and pitching jigs and plastics to cover in the afternoon. Our best areas were in the south end of the lake fishing deep to shallow transitions, once we found a small area that had some fish we slowed down and pitched 1/2 oz TNT Wadda jigs in the color Dragonfly/rock bass to any hard cover there was, the jig gave us a 9.30lb and a 7.47lb set of giants! The fish are very close to spawning and with a few more days of warm weather the first big push will be on beds but there are still plenty of big pre spawn fish feeding in transition areas that have bait around.
Good luck everyone!
