Clear Lake 7/10/14
Took advantage of a week-day off and some lower air temps to make a run to Clear Lake with my buddy David Gretler. I needed to renew my mussel tags so we had to wait till 6:00 a.m. for the shop to open and missed a good portion of a possible topwater bite. We launched out of Red Bud with only 2 1/2 ft. of water under the boat and the water temp at 77 degrees. Made a short run up lake and started throwing frogs and topwater to the grass lines but didn’t get a bite. Went to throwing a mix of chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, texas rigged worms and dropshots from shallow to deep looking for fish. We caught most of our fish in 10ft. or less of water near docks and the weed lines. By 2 p.m. the water temp reached 82 degrees and we had to head for home. I’m sure the night bite would be awesome right now with the full moon and a lot of bait up shallow. Hope this helps you zero in on the fish if your headed that way and as always thanks for checking in with RBBASS!
