I spent the last four days on Clear Lake and the fishing has been really good. I’m catching most of my fish in two to ten feet of water and the water temp is anywhere from 53-56 degrees. I’m catching my fish on an IMA Flit rip bait, Lucky Craft Stacy 90, and the A-Rig.
There are a lot of shad this year and they are big, anywhere from 4-6 inches. The bass are relating to the shad, not the hitch like they should be this time of year. I’m sure you can go out there and hook up a swim bait and get bit, but you’re going to catch more fish ripping and throwing an A-Rig.
While i was pre-fishing for the Chamber of Commerce Tournament my partner Jackson Juarez and I caught two nines and two ten pounders and a bunch of fish in the three to six pound class. We caught most of our fish north, but we did catch fish down south in the Red Bud arm. With the weather warning up the bite should get better and pull these fish up. Good luck to everyone fishing the future pro classic this weekend, I’ll be out there cheering you guys on.
