Clear Clear Lake Fishing Report 7-31-2010
After a week of cooler than usual weather at night the fishing at Clear Lake seem to change yet again. The fishing is slower than normal for this time of year no doubt , but schools of Bass are feeding and if you find them you will score on decent size Bass. There are many schools of deep fish cruising the lake in 25 to 35 ft. For these fish try a Dark jig, carolina rig ,drop shot, and a senko. move the bait really slowly. Concentrate on deep rocky areas and underwater humps. Your electronics come into play right now no doubt if your marking fish it’s because there’s bait there. This bite will be constant through summer and works well on hotter days from the mid lake to the south part of the lake. When we have cooler weeks like this one you have both these deep fish and shallow fish ready to eat once you locate them. Many fish moved shallow this week in these cooler nights. We found bass schooled up in 4ft of water and they will eat! Senko’s and a drop shot will be your best bet drag them slowly across shallow rocks near the stringy grass areas with deep water near bye. In the north part of the lake these cooler nights have made the bass move shallow again. Buzzbaits and wakebaits in open water will get bites early. Then look for Mr. frog bites way shallow as the day goes on for the bigger fish.
There has been many talks about the Bloom at Clear Lake. Many areas have heavy bloom. What we found is areas with some bloom are holding the bass and areas of heavy bloom have fish, there just harder to catch. There is clear water with little bloom in many areas. Keep in mind the bloom gets bigger as the day warms up. Protected areas are thick with this stuff. Areas with a breeze and current have less bloom in them or it’s not as thick. The north has far less bloom than the south since the shallow weeds filter out the bloom.
GOOD LUCK!
