Lake Collins Report – 9/29/2012
Went camping at Collins Lake this past weekend with a few friends and am regretting not bringing the boat with me as I could not cover much water. I fished a long stretch of the north west bank between Elmers Cove Point and the Bouey line at sunrise on Saturday morning. The morning winds were pushin baitfish up on the bank and you could see the bass bustin on em. I managed to get this 4 lb Spot on a topwater Sammy in ghost white as well as a 3 lb Largemouth. Three big ole bass completely missed my bait. It could have been an epic morning at Collins if I could have buttoned up those bass. I am not positive that this bite was goin on all over the lake as I was limited to fishing close to the campsite.
Bottom line is that the topwater bite is still goin in the early morning. Check it out! You might be pleasantly surprised!
