Delta Fishing Report

April 21, 2014 by Ron Howe

Delta Map

Fished the BBT Delta/Wine Region today. Water temps were in the high 60’s all day. My partner Bob Tyler and I caught fish on Buzzbaits, Chatterbaits, Dartheaded Robo Worms and Puchbaits. All our fish came in 4ft. or less of water. Punching produced our best fish followed by the Darthead and then the Chatter.  The wind played a big factor as to where we could fish, so we looked for protected bays or sloughs with mats and tules. We did see a few bed fish in Franks Tract but the white caps made it ne’er impossible to fish for them. The winning team said they caught their fish in a slack water/low current area, off isolated weed clumps with Dropshots. The second place team fished the same area, but off deep water tules with jigs.

On a more somber note, I send my prayers to the family, friends and fellow fisherman who lost one of our fishing brothers today as a tragic accident happened on the water today.
