Delta Fishing Report

February 4, 2015 by Ron Howe

Delta Map

We had a late start to the day but launched the boat at Russo’s Marina around 12:30. Water temps are 53 to 55 depending on the area. Water clarity is no bad but still dirty with about 4inchs of visibility. Thought out the day we target staging area with current. 3 key baits for the day were a shallow running crankbait, and 2 separate rigs for flipping. The first one is a pegged  1/2oz river2sea tungsten bullet weight with vampire orange Berkley havoc pit boss. The next was a 1.5oz river2sea trash bomb with any green pumpkin color combination beaver or craw type bait. The reason of having the 2 set ups were pretty simple. The light rig was for flipping around tulies and light matted cover and the other for getting through the heavy cover. Go as light as you can on your tungsten the lighter weight seemed to make a difference.  Keep in mind the water is still in the lower 50s but their is fish shallow. But put the noodle rods away for the year and break out the broom sticks.
