Dudley Looks for Back to Back Wins

 May 18, 2012

NATIONAL HARBOR, MD –  After two days of competition in the FLW Tour Potomac River event David Dudley sits in second place. With a first day five fish limit of 16 pounds, 11 ounces and a second day limit of 18 pounds, 7 ounces Dudley is in great position to win his second consecutive FLW Tour event. “I feel good right now and I am looking forward to getting out there tomorrow.”

Dudley is using a variety of techniques to fill his limits each day. “I am just throwing what feels right.  I have grown up fishing this place and I am running on instinct right now. Of course, I don’t want my techniques to get out with two days left in the event, but truth is I am doing a lot of different things. One thing I can tell you is that I understand the grass here. I know how to fish it and more importantly how to catch and land fish from it. That’s the trick.”

Fishing in a “community hole” as he calls it can definitely be a risky business, “It’s a community hole so there’s no telling how many fish are left there. The good news is I have a ton of stuff I haven’t been to yet.  With my history on Potomac, I think I can make any adjustments necessary to keep myself in this event until then end.”

With his top 20 performance this week Dudley has assured himself to be in the top four of the FLW Tour Angler of the Year race when the weekend concludes. With a top ten finish he would assure himself of at worst a top two standings for the AOY, but Dudley isn’t interested in the AOY numbers yet.  “I am not thinking about the Angler of the Year standings right now. I am out to win this event. On Monday, I’ll check the standings of the Angler of the Year.  I am just going to take the Castrol Ranger for a ride tomorrow and do some ishing on a place that I love to fish.”

Dudley is enjoying himself and the Potomac River, “This is so cool. I am fishing one of the top ten lakes in the country. I am just a few hours from my house and I am feeling good. Anything can happen, but I like the way the event is unfolding.”
