I fished Folsom Lake today in preparation for the Future Pro Tour Capitol City Showdown on 4-21-12.I launched from the Granite bay ramp and was pleased to see that the water has risen to the point that the upper ramp has now been put into service. The water temp’s today were 52 to 55 degree’s. I started the day up the South Fork where I encountered a huge amount of floating debris and very stained water. I focused my effort’s on flat’s for the first two hour’s throwing the shaky-head with a green pumpkin worm and the A-rig with no result’s. From here I started working my way back toward’s the main lake dropping into the back’s of coves along the way. This is where the big fish of the day was caught in three feet of water next to a stump on the shaky-head,a four pound large mouth. Thinking I might be onto something finally I ran to the big sandy flat to the left just before the rock gardens and started fishing a shad pattern senko in two to four feet of water. This turned out to be the big producer of the day catching several fish, but in a tournament situation I would have only had three keeper’s today for a total of eight pound’s.So with all that said there’s no need to get discouraged, I think Folsom Lake is about to catch on fire soon. The males are moving up and roaming witch means the big girls won’t be far behind. So Good Luck and let’s hope your next bite is a ten ponder,on Folsom Lake it could happen.
