FPT Classic – “A test for the best”

SACRAMENTO, Ca. –  Perseverance and determination are the best words that come to mind when describing the anglers that have demonstrated their ability  to “stay the course” and battle through a grueling 7-event, multi-lake schedule that spanned the course of nine months, to become just one of 90 teams that will have the opportunity to participate in what is without a doubt, the most competitive and prestigious amateur-level bass fishing championship event in the west – the Thunder Valley Outdoors/Future Pro Tour Classic.

This invitational championship event, to be held on November 5th and 6th, is truly a test for the best, and offers a challenge like none other for those willing to truly test their angling skills, as the competition will be held over a two-day period at two completely different venues: day 1) on Folsom Lake – a deep, clear water impoundment loaded with quality spotted bass, and day 2) on the world-famous California delta – a shallow water river system known for producing double-digit largemouth bass and  featuring over 1000 miles of meandering sloughs, levies, PLUS a tide that changes every four hours!

And the challenges these Classic qualifiers will face during this final chapter of the 2011 season, are totally congruent with the mission statement of the Future Pro Tour, as the organization exists to help beginning to intermediate level anglers constantly develop and challenge their bass fishing skills in a fun yet competitive environment.

For this event however, the “fun” part will take a back seat as these 90 teams will apply every technique they have acquired over the season that will give them the best chance at winning the top prize offered in this championship event – a brand new fully-rigged Ranger/Evinrude package valued at over $35,000, plus cash and prizes that will be paid out to the top 25 places.

On November 4th, the night prior to the event, the tour will again present its traditional FPT Classic celebration dinner, hosted at Thunder Valley Casino Resort, a 5-star luxury hotel and casino located in Lincoln California, not too far from Folsom Lake, where sponsors, noted pro anglers, and many members of the media will be in attendance to meet and greet qualifying anglers during a lively cocktail mixer, followed by a delicious buffet-style dinner served by the staff at Thunder Valley Resort.

The first day of competition and weigh-in will be Saturday, Nov 5th at Folsom Lake – Granite Bay ramp, followed by the final day of competition which will be held Sunday, Nov 6th, on the California delta, with a final weigh-in beginning at 3pm at the Weber Point Marina located directly behind the University Plaza Hotel in downtown Stockton.

We encourage everyone come out to see the excitement and drama as it unfolds, as we look forward to this year-end championship and putting another great season of fun on the water in the history books.

This event will be televised on Comcast Sport Net California, just a few short weeks following, so come on out and be part of all the excitement as we crown our newest Classic Champions….and bestow upon them a title that will give them good reason to be considered the best amateur bass fishing team in the west!

See you all at the Classic!
