Lake Berryessa Fishing Report

February 14, 2016 by Ron Howe

Lake Berryessa Map

Went to Lake Berryessa with a friend on Super Bowl Sunday. Weather was great, actually a bit warm at times. I had a boat issue with my key pad going bad so we were restricted to the trolling motor only. We fished around Capell Cove all day for 7 fish with the best 5 going about 11-12 lbs. All fish were caught on my Powell 753 casting rod tied to a 5/16 shakey head with 8lb Berkley 100% fluorocarbon line. Reel is an Abu Garcia Revo SX. I fished green pumpkin and watermelon 6 in worms slowly and shaking in place. Most bites were very mushy.

Not sure about temps as my graphs wouldnt work due to the key pad being bad. Didnt see any fish activity on the surface. Sure wish I could have went up lake with the warm weather. I was told by another angler that the water temp was around 55 deg, slightly stained. Again I was stuck in that one area so it could have been cleaner out on the main lake. I look for the bite to improve as we get closer to March.

Get out on the water and enjoy the great fishing here on Berryessa. Lake is still about 40ft from full. The weather guru’s say we have lots of rain coming.
