Lake New Melones Fishing Report
Water Temp 53-58 Deg
Water Stained to Clear
This lake is amazing! The lake is low, but its still huge! The lake has a long river arm and a good sized main body full of wood, Islands, Bays, creek guts bridge pilings and more for you to fish. Trohpy Spotted Bass live here and so do Huge Largemouth! Fishing has been good for numbers the last few weeks. This last weekend bigger fish have started to show. Spotted Bass are taking Jigs,Shakey Heads, Swimbaits and crankbaits. You just need to figure out what mood they are in that day and find out what structure they are using. Some days flats and other days bluffs. Largemouth Bass are moving to spawning areas. Males are in the coves and so are some smaller females. Bigger females are still on winter spots, but move shallow to eat at some point during the day. Fish super slow for bigger fish! Expect 10-30 fish per day and maybe catch a trophy Bass!
Practice day we had a front moving out and the Spotted Bass were shallow and on FIRE!
Tournament day the weather got calm and warm and we changed to slower fishing to catch Largemouth Bass.
