Lake Oroville Fishing Report

December 16, 2012 by Ron Howe

Fish are defiantly biting at Oroville right now. Dan Wells and I fished the Anglers Choice Oroville Pro Team tournament on 12-8, with the water rising and stained from all the recent rains, we found fish up shallow on the bank in the 5’-15’ range, our best 5 for the day went over 14 pounds and was good for 2nd place.  You can get bit on almost anything but we found the better fish while we were throwing Jigs and spinner baits. We were throwing the Tnt Baits M-80 jig in the BMF color. We did find numbers of fish out deeper in the 25-35 foot range, we caught these deep fish on senkos and jigs but for us they were for the most part smaller fish. If your planning on heading to the lake anytime soon bring what you are confident in throwing or want to catch fish on. Good luck!
