Lake Oroville Fishing Report May 2011

May 9, 2011 by Ron Howe

Water Temp 53-70deg

Weather: incoming front cloudy breezy cool 46-64deg

Lake Oroville is almost full! The lake continues to rise daily as the snow begins to melt. This is great news as this lake has been near empty for a while. Fishing is good as spring is in full swing and Bass are shallow alll over the whole lake. Fish plastic worms from 3-20feet deep. Green and browns will work well right now. Senkos will work well on sunny days as this will make the fish suspend and get really agressive. There are also pre and post spawn fish as well. Spooks will excite post spawn fish while spinnerbaits will work well on the pre spawn fish.

The recent Anglers Choice Pro Teams event took 22lbs to win with 21lbs taking second place even with a fish over 10lbs caught!. A few anglers found big spawning Large mouth bass and got them to react! Fishing will be good here for some time as the water ranges from 53-70 deg. Check coves, pockets and flats for the best action.

Good Luck

Ron Howe
