Lake Shasta Fishing Report. 9-29-12
Launched from Bridge Bay resort at 7:00 today with 74 degree water temp’s and gin clear water. Made a run up the Pit arm and started out my day throwing a small profile walking bait in a shad pattern near Jones’ valley. The action was steady,But some of the fish were the size of my bait. I stuck with this for the first two hour’s jumping from point to point and backs of some pockets . By now the sun is up and working overtime so I switched to the drop-shot and to my surprise had very little luck with this technique. The area was loaded with huge balls of bait fish, prompting me to switch to a dart head rigged with a Ox blood Robo worm fished on the bottom from twelve feet to twenty five feet. This turned out to be the big producer of the day.No big fish were caught, but I lost count of how many we did catch. The lake is low and launching is a bit of a challenge, but the fishing for numbers is red hot and worth the trip. It’s a great time to give a kid a fishing trip they’ll remember.
Good Luck. Bob Tyler.
