Spring time Spotted Bass fishing on the move by Ron Howe
April 2011 We have had a long cold and wet winter in California, but the water is warming and despite the cool storms the fish are on the move! There are many great Spotted Bass lakes here in California to go catch spring time Spotted Bass. Some good lakes to fish from south to north include Lake Mclure,Lake Don Pedro,Lake New Melones,Lake Commance,Folsom Lake,Lake Berryessa,Bullards Bar,Lake Oroville, and Lake Shasta.
The great part about Spotted Bass fishing in the spring is the cold storm fronts dont shut the fish down like sometimes it does to largemouth bass. In fact it can actually improve the bite making the fish more active! Spotted Bass will eat a variety of baits from reaction to soft plastics. The fish in the south will finish spawning sooner and will begin to chase bait and eat topwater baits.. The fish in the northern lakes will be in all 3 phases of the spawn from pre spawn, spawn and post spawn. This gives you the chance to catch fish in several different ways! Take your favorite gear and hit these spring time spotted bass destinations for some great fishing! Spotted bass are on the move on a lake near you!
Good Luck Ron Howe
