RB Bass was in attendance at this years Pardee Lake/Jackson Rancheria Media Day.The first half of the event was hosted by and at Jackson Rancheria casino where we were treated to a fantasist steak dinner with all the trimmings, top quality service and a Five star room.In attendance was Kent Brown host of the Ultimate Bass Radio Show and Co-host of California Sportsmen radio show.Kent is a great angler in his own right with seven West coast bass and western bass classic qualifications ,HBC 4 time champion and Western Bass Sportsmen of the year. Also in attendance were some of the Nations top Pro’s such as Jimmy Reese,Bobby Barrack,Ken Mah,Mike Reynolds,Ken Sauret,Billy Hines,Dave Rush,Greg Gutierrez,Jason Borofka,Russ Graves,Andy Cuccia and living legend Dave Gliebe . It was a lot of fun rubbing elbow’s and sharing fishing stories with true Star’s of our sport and all of the top outdoor writers.
The following morning we all meet at the Lake Pardee Cafe where owner of the lake Richard Cooper treated us to an all you can eat breakfast, good company and a great cup of coffee.
Here the writers were paired up with the Pro anglers they would be fishing with and reporting on for the day.I had the good fortune of drawing the Up and coming Shawn Peirson and Russ Graves aka “Big Bait Guy”.On all the anglers minds today was the Bragging rights that would come with the big fish honorers of the day ,so it was no surprise to see all the giant swim bait’s come out to play. The fishing on Pardee Lake proved itself to be a bit tough today. The water was crystal clear and in the mid sixty degree range. This would make one think the spawn should be in full swing. But that wasn’t the case today. We didn’t see a single fish locked on a bed and we covered a lot of water looking. Myself and Shawn did however manage to catch a few on a Drop-shot and one swim bait bite. At 10:30 we all meet back at the marina to swap partners, compare notes and again be spoiled by Mister Richard Cooper who cooked up some awesome hotdogs for us all.The second half of the day proved itself to be just as stingy with the big bite for myself and Russ.We covered a lot of water as well running from point to point on the main lake offering up trout colored swim baits. The sun had come out and there wasn’t much wind, these two factors didn’t help the cause at all.Russ however still managed to land a nice six pound bass and second place big fish.In the end Mike Reynolds was the man to receive the big bass honers and bragging rights. With his five Bass Master Classic Qualifications and two Forrest Wood Cup Qualifications it no surprise that Mike had a few tricks up his sleeve that came in the form of a Morning Dawn Robo Worm rigged on a Drop-shot rig that landed him an awesome ten pound plus bass. All the anglers of course caught their fair share of bass and I’m sure if they were concentrating on numbers of bass instead big bass they would have caught a boat load each. I would also like to say thank to Strike King Lure company for the gift pack filled with an assortment of baits that really do fit into the western bass fishing needs and a sweet pair of S11 polarized sunglasses.RB Bass had a great time at this years media day event and look forward to next year. Thank you again Jackson Rancheria Casino,Lake Pardee and Kent Brown of Ultimate Bass radio.
