Lake Amador Report 5/4/14
Today we fished from 5:30-2:00. Water was stained at 74-77 degrees. I fished with my buddy Jim Vretzos and we started with top water the first hour with no luck. First fish in the morning came on a pb&j football jig in 8′ of water on a white rocky point. So we duplicated the pattern and found these points all over the lake and fished them with tubes, dartheaded swimbaits, even went to the drop shot. I was really hoping to get some swimbait bites this morning but it was slow. By 11:30 I had 7-8 keepers with nothing of size. My buddy Jim had about 4-5 fish , until he pulled out the Texas rigged brushhog then boom! He stuck a 4.8 in 5′ of water and started putting them in the boat. So I did what any angler would do and tied on a brushog and started catching them..
It was a pretty fun day we got 20+ fish all on plastics and jigs. Look for the rocky points and little cove pockets, those places we’re the best for us. Lots of fish were shallow chasing bait, in fact most of our fish were in the 0-15′ depth. The water is very low and there is unmarked hazards so be careful out there next month Folsom Bass Team! I’ll see you guys there..
