Thomas and Boyd Take Squaw Creek
The team of RB Bass member Darrel Thomas and his partner Terry Boyd out fished the field to win the first Dallas Bass Hookers Club Tournament of the year, January 17, 2015 on Squaw Creek Lake in Granbury, TX. The team had a very slow start, and was without a keeper until about 10 am. According to Darrel, “We did not get a lot of bites throughout the day, but we got the bites it took to win”. That’s for sure! The duo ended up with a five bass limit weighing 19.34lbs., with their biggest bass coming in at 6.75lbs. Not too bad, especially since Darrel had never fished the lake before!
“Instead of over thinking the situation, we decided to just go fishing and see what happens”, Darrel said. After having no luck on their initial spot, they decided to make a run. They made a move to the upper end of the lake, where they got onto their winning pattern of dragging a Carolina rigged Zoom Baby Brush Hog and swimming a PowerTeam Lures 4″ Grub along rocky banks. Both baits were in Green Pumpkin color.
