This past weekend was the Amphibia Big Bass Trail on lake toho. The lake is fishing pretty good after been beat the death by two national tournaments several regional level tournaments and countless local tournaments in the span of 4 months.
Right now look for schooling fish just south of Makison island and west of big grassy. Throw carolina rigged 10inch worms at them or lip less crank baits.
The topwater bite is still a little slow look for it to pick up in the next few weeks. When It does pick up look towards steer beach areas and gobblits cove for big bass.
Around 1 o’clock it seems the offshore bite on Shell beds stops focus on the kissimmee grass patches on the west side of the lake. Flip black and blue beaver style baits with a .5 oz tungsten. Averaging 15-25 bass in a two hour period most 2 – 4 lbs range with a kicker mixed in.
Shinner fishing focus on the east side of Makison island along the offshore grass edge. You’ll notice a few guide boats sitting around. When that ends focus on drifting shiners over the shell beds of the lake. And later in the day the north end seems to be holding fish along the grass and reed patches.
Pan fishing, crappie fishing is just about over and we’re focusing on brim as they are starting to bed. Target Lilly pads and kissimmee grass in 3-5 ft of water. Also reports of some brim have been caught on shellbeds offshore. To target these species I recommend using ultralight rods, split shots and #6 Aberdeen hooks. Bait of choice is crickets or worms.
Tight lines!!!
