We had a awesome turn out for our first 2 day B.A.S.S Nation qualifier of the year at clear lake with 18 boaters and 16 non boaters showing up to try and make the 2017 California B.A.S.S Nation State Team. With only 4 boaters and 4 non boater making the team at this qualifier, there was some work to do. With the air temps being in the low 40’s and heating up to the mid 80’s, all the anglers were expecting to have huge bags of fish coming in the scales. At the end of day 1 Brian Kennemer was leading with the only bag over 20 pounds totaling 23.03. Randall Paine was in second with 18 even and Jason Milligan taking the 3rd spot with 17.90. Heading into the second day you could see the game faces on the anglers. Knowing they needed to do work to make the team, there wasn’t as much dock talk like there was on Saturday. With the wind blowing over night i didn’t think the weights would be up there again but they proved me wrong there was a lot more bags over 17#s and 1 bag over 20#s again. After the scales were closed, 8 angler punched there ticket for the 2017 California BASS Nation State Team. Winning the first qualifier of the year on the boaters side was Brian Kennemer with a 2 day total of 40.55. Second place was Jason Milligan with a total of 36.10. Third place was Brad Everett with 32.18 and making the final boater spot was Ron Rushing with 30.86. Congrats guys !!! Wallace Hemminger won the non boater side with 22.14. Coming in second was Brian Cogburn with 20.62. Taking the third spot was Adrian Murar with 18.90 and making the fourth spot was Mike Coleman with 18.33. Taking home a new Dobyns rod for Big fish for the boater side was Randall Paine with a beautiful 9.99 fish. Also taking a brand new Dobyns rod for the Non boater big fish was Brian Cogburn with a nice 7.86.
