Coming to you from Southern California
Hi fellow anglers: My name is Scott Robertson, I am a so cal tourney angler-restaurant manager-father –newly appointed freshwater fishing instructor for the city of Fontana.
I have been fishing at a club level and tournaments since 1999, with tourneys in many organizations such as WON Bass, National Bass West, ABA, and familiar with most organizations running tournaments in southern California with an AOY in 2005 for ABA in the high desert region. I have been given the opportunity to chime in on www.RBbassfishing.net to let you know what’s going in the So Cal waters.
Like most of you I am not a full time tourney pro and have a family to support and “real job” as they call them. I run restaurants for a living and fish whenever possible. I am now teaching two classes for freshwater fishing for the city: One class for the beginning freshwater class for the beginning freshwater angler, and one introduction to competitive fishing, for those who want to get more involved than being a weekend angler. I don’t have a big list of sponsors to promote, but I do run in a small circle of guys (very accomplished fishermen) that I share information with, some with major player sponsors. This information I trust.
I will attempt to clue you in on what’s happening on the local waters of deep clear lakes of So Cal.
I may not be the foremost expert on these waters because I am still a working guy like most of you, but I will give you the knowledge and information I have on local lakes, reports, and techniques being used to fish these over pressured waters. I try to get out as much as humanly possible and fish when I can.
I will also leave an email address to contact me for specific information I might be able to help with, (There are some things that can’t be posted on a public forum).
I have buddies who fish in most tournament organizations, guides, and I am also on a private board with about 200 people where we discuss the things that we will not post to the public. I will never compromise any information detrimental to anyone’s tournament strategies or spots. If they belong to me on my home waters I might be willing to share to some.
The lakes I spend most of time on are Silverwood Lake, Perris Lake, Diamond Valley (DVL), Puddingstone and a couple other local spots, with an occasional run on Havasu, Mead, Pleasant in AZ.
It was my intention to fish the WON Bass tour in the southern section this year, but after a change in directors who in turn changed the lakes and the dates of the tournaments may prove to be challenge for me.
Hopefully I am able to provide with you with some useful information in the coming articles or answer any questions you may have. I have access to a great guide on DVL and Vail Lake, two of Southern California’s premier big fish lakes for any of you wanting to spend a day or two here on local waters.
Keep in mind I am not a professional writer, so bare with me.
It will be a pleasure to share what information I have and maybe converse with some of you one on one.
Thank you for welcoming me aboard.
Scott Robertson
