My buddy David and I fished Clear Lake for two days out of Clear Lake Oaks. The wind really decided to blow for our trip with a steady 12-15 mph and gusts up to 30 reported. We could run up Rattle Snake early and get to middle lake safely but the white caps started up by 10 a.m.. We fished primarily from Buckingham down to Konocti Bay. The west side provided the best protection from the wind so we worked it hard till we had to run back to Rattle Snake and fish the protected north side back to the oaks. The water temp was 73 and visibility about 1 to 3 feet. We found the best success fishing bladed baits in bluegill colors as we moved between docks along the bank and jigs pitched tight to dock pilings. I used a spider grub in a smoke color on a 3/8 football jig and David used a 3/8 cotton candy jig with a brown plastic trailer and a ½ jig brown with black flake spider grub. The fish we caught averaged 2-3 pounds and the biggest about 4.
