Conditions:
Water clarity: 1ft-3ft
Currently the water temps dropped just a hair from the previous week. Temps are in the mid-50s for most parts of the delta. The visibility has dropped considerably in the river due to the recent rains and wind. With the dirty water and the air temp forecasted to be really warm this week, I suspect the reaction bite should start to pick up. I had a chance to get out and managed a few fish on chatterbaits and spinner baits. We did have to follow up on many short strikes with a senko. The fish just wouldn’t quite eat the moving baits like they should have. We did adjust our bait colors with the dirty water, ultimately helping our bite in the end. Make sure you are efficient with your cast and don’t be afraid to fish a spot and or area twice. This time of year, you can fish and leave a spot before those fish have even moved up. Also, I have a feeling this upcoming weekend there are going to be some very big fish caught, so don’t be afraid to SLOW down and put the odds in your hands.
