My cousin Justin and I went out for a fun little half day trip to Lake McClure. We couldn’t find much shallow on reaction baits this morning, so we moved out deeper to some main lake points drop shotting finesse worms, and throwing a Fatty’s worms 1/2 oz underspin with a 3.75” strike king rage swimmer. The better fish were in 25-45’ of water near main lake points, as well as a few island tops. We didn’t catch any big ones, but we had over 13 lbs for our best five which isn’t too bad this time of year. We ended the day up in the river arm and got on a fun whopper popper bite, mostly all smaller sized fish with a few decent ones in the mix. If you are planning a trip up to Lake McClure, be careful as there is a lot of smoke up in that area right now, the air quality is horrible!
