Hey everyone my name is JD Farage. I grew up living on the water in Discovery Bay on Willow Lake. My dad is the one who got me into fishing. My dad taught me how to learn and attack a fishery. Find a bank, pick a rod and start casting. Sounds simple but there is a lot to it. By doing this I learned a lot of new techniques and patterns to fish. I then moved to a new house on the delta, still in Discovery Bay. With living on the water I got to learn how to fish my backyard and got really good at it. By going out and fishing everyday I developed a strong confidence in my skills and fishing abilities. I continue to work on these skills and techniques all the time to make myself a better angler. I would love to thank my very successful dad for teaching me and sharing his knowledge of fishing to get me where I am today. Right now I have been focused on fishing Pro/Ams more than high school events but know that in order to fish at a high level in college I need to fish more high school tournaments.
I attend Liberty High School and belong to the East County Student Anglers. I fish CSA, TBA, MLF and Wild West Bass Trail. Last year I managed to finish 2nd in the Angler of the Year race. I was the 2022 high school MLF Lake Havasu Champion. I was also the 2021 high school Delta CSA Champion. I have many top 10 finishes under my belt. Besides fishing I also am involved with wrestling. This year I have missed a few fishing events due to my wrestling schedule so I am out of the running for Angler of the Year. The college I plan to attend after high school is Auburn. I plan to study Business or Finance. My favorite places to fish are the California Delta or Clear Lake. They are 2 of the top fisheries in the country. Learning tides and catching hawgs on the delta and Clear Lakes scenery and giant bass are awesome. My favorite technique is finesse fishing. Primarily dropshotting is my jam but I am well rounded in all aspects of finesse fishing and power fishing. My coinfidence baits are a dropshot and a topwater frog covering both the top and bottom of the water column. My favorite anglers are My Dad, Jacob Wheeler, John Cox, Justin Lucas, Seth Feider and many other anglers just to name a few. My fishing goals for myself are to win a Pro/Am, fish on the Auburn College team and to fish on the tour and elite series.
