Saturday June 6th Upper Blue Lakes
Wind: 5 to 10 mph
Water clarity: clear
Got to hit Blue Lakes with my Good buddy Dale. We got there about about 8:45 am. By the time we got boat ready to launch and in the water it was about 9:15. We got out on the water where my buddy Luis was already out there trolling around on his kayak. We started of trolling Thomas Lures Buoyant Spoons. Dale had on a brown and yellow Buoyant Spoon.
I was trolling a chartreuse one like power bait color.
We had the down riggers set at about 12 feet deep to start. Didn’t take long and I hooked up. Got the first one in the boat. Then we got the lines out and down riggers set again and then my buddy Dale hooks up and lands the biggest one of the day. We continued trolling at the same depth we were for a little while I had picked up a total of three and Dale 2. Then the bit started slowing down. Dale then changed his lure to one that was like a florescent orange color and we change the depth we were trolling down to 24 feet.
There was trout all over the screen through the day. When we started trolling at that magic 24 number at around 2 mph maybe a little less that’s all it took. Dale and I soon finished out the day with both of us catching our limits. All in all it was a great day on the water with my buddy. If your looking to go over to Blue Lakes and do some fishing trolling from a boat was the best bet. To launch your boat or fish there it cost 18 bucks a person at the little resort on the south end. Great place to get out and fish and swim. Water was crystal clear. They do rent electric boats there I’m not sure how.much they cost. You can call the Lodge at Blue lakes and they can give you that information.
