I went out to Lake McClure for the first time yesterday for a tournament. We ended up doing pretty good for not pre fishing at all with a weight of 10.27 Lbs. Conditions were slightly cloudy with not much wind at all. We were seeing water temps ranging from 57-60 with pretty good water clarity. Our key to finding fish was looking for steep bluff banks with sunlight hitting them and searching for differences such as rocks or small points and pockets. We Fished both main lake and up the river and the quality main lake was much better. We were able to locate fish anywhere from 10-40 feet but the bigger fish came close to 15 feet. We caught fish on a few different things. A few jerk bait fish, drop shots, a couple on a spoon, neko rig, jig and my partner caught some strolling and throwing keitechs. Most of the fish on moving baits were small and I couldn’t get any fish on an A-rig. Most of our limit was caught on drop shots and jigs but I called 2 fish at the end with a neko rig. Overall better fishing than I expected and it was a fun lake to fish.
