Headed out to the Delta today to see how the bite was going…Was picking up a buddy at Russo’s dock to get him out on the water for the day. I decided to spend the entire day in Franks, both inside and out… Water temp started out at 70 and got to 73 by the end of the day and was clear to a slight stain. Started off targeting the east side where the wind was blowing into the tulle island and started slinging the 1.2 ounce Persuader Popping Walker in the Grey Shad color… 3rd cast… fish crushes the bait.. about 15 casts later another one smashes it… figured it was going to be a good day. I continued to mix things up all day long between the Popping Walker, SP frog, Persuader buzzbait and spinnerbait, drop shot (4″ mm), senko, speedtrap, rip bait and beaver. 8 rods on the deck… junk fishing at it’s finest!
We worked from the East side all the way down to the West side of the track, working both inside and outside throughout the day. We caught a bunch of fish along with missing a bunch as well… Nothing big…few of them would have been nice fish, but they where razor thin… but eager to feed up… good action all day…
Tip: Almost everything came on a real slow retrieve… worked the Popping Walker about 5 slow walks…then 2 pops… let sit for about 10-15 seconds and they jumped all over it!
Since they were eating several things during the day, it allowed me to test multiple lures/techniques on several different Abu Garcia Veritas Rods…
Good Luck fishing… and keep hydrated ~
