I took a long time friend out to the Delta to chase some fish down. Got on water at about 7:30 out of Paradise with calm conditions, good water visibility and an outgoing tide. Water temp was 76.4. Fished Bishop Cut and caught a few fish one the Persuader Poppn Walker in shad color and a custom chatter bait. Also hooked into one fish on the new Persuader umbrella rig with 4 inch split belly paddle tail baits being used on lower 3 arms and two small willow blades used on top arms. Ended up getting hammered about ten more times on the rig, but could not hook up as they were all small fish grabbing tails… but still some action on the new rig which was fun! It was great weather to be on the water but the river did not provide use with tons of fish and nothing of any decent size.
If you get a chance, check out the new Persuader rigs… they come in a few colors, 5 wires with good hardware and a plastic composite head that is very light. The rig was easy to cast and tracked very good in the water at multiple speeds. I found it to be a pretty good option for fishing the Delta. I did however opt to use a lighter head then those that were provided in the package in order to keep it out of the weeds on the low/slack tide I was dealing with.
If going out this holiday weekend, have fun and be safe…
