Clearlake fishing report for March 22nd and 23rd 2014.
Fishing was a lot harder this weekend. Saturday my partner Jackson Juarez and I only had seven bites all day, using rattle traps. We couldn’t get anything to go on swimbaits or glide baits. And we also got one rat on a drop shot. Jackson got five in the boat before i got bit. My first bite didn’t come until 1:20 and I got another one shortly after. They both helped and they culled out two rats. The water was really clear and the temp was 66, by the end of the day we weighed in 19 1/2lbs on Saturday. On Sunday we had a whole new game plan we found a lot of fish shallow and a few on beds so we decided to go south on Sunday; because the water was super clear. And you could see up to 8 to 10 feet down, so we went bed fishing. We found a lot of abandoned beds, and a lot of bed fish that weren’t locked on so we were casting to the cruising fish with a drop shot and senko i picked up five with a drop shot and Jackson lost a few on a senko. The last hour we decided to pick up and go back up north to where we caught a few trap fish on Saturday. The last ten minuets Jackson caught two good fish and we culled two of our smaller fish out. We ended up with a little over 23lbs on Sunday. We jumped from 34th to 14th place, not to bad with 130 boat field. The chamber of commerce payed twenty-six spots. Super fun tournament can’t wait till next year to fish it.
