Happy New Years! I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays.
Here’s a quick Delta report from January 16th to 23rd. Water temp on the Delta is anywhere from 48-52 degrees. The largemouth bite is picking up! We’ve been averaging 10-15 keepers a trip with an occasional fish over six pounds. Areas like the Mokelumne River has been producing nice bass. Most of the Bass we’ve been catching are in transitional areas such as a bend in the river leading into a flat or sloughs stemming off of the main river. If the tide is high I start searching with a lipless bait such as an IMA Suspend Vibe or a Spinnerbait if there is a little wind. Once I locate a stretch with a few fish on it I come back through with an Optimum 6” Boom Boom Swimbait and really comb over the area searching for larger fish. As the tide drops out I switch to a drop shot or 1/8oz dart head with a Net Bait Flex Worm. The delta can be a grind but the reward is worth it!
Hope this helps you on your next trip!
