Today I had the chance to spend time fishing the West Delta with Kirby Wallace. We were pre-fishing for the upcoming Bass Fest on Sunday the 24th. We started off the morning throwing top water on the out going tide. This paid off with two solid bites. After the sun hit the water, the bite went off and we decided to run some mats on the main river. Flipping and punching we put three more good fish in the boat, two of which were upwards of six pounds. We found that the smaller hyacinth clumps that had been blown into small pockets from the wind, produced better quality fish than the other mats we had worked. Our total weight was 23 pounds with our five best fish, making this yet another good day on the Delta.
