Delta Report
3-7-16
This past Sunday I fished my first California Bass Federation Tournament. I was pretty confident going into this event, basing my pre-fish on an average of 15 to 17 pounds just enough for a check. Leading up to this event we had warm rain Thursday through Saturday, pushing the fish shallow and ultimately leading to a wide open bite. However the storm did manage to blow out on Saturday and post-frontal conditions settled in on Sunday. I knew Sunday morning when I looked up at the sky and seen stars with not a cloud in sight that it was going to be tough bite. So I scratched my game plan of staying local and milking a few areas and decided to run and gun isolated grass flats on fast current areas. I started fishing around Tower Park and bounced my way to the South Delta stopping around Victoria Island and at the switch of the tide worked my way back to Tower Park. I stopped on 10 to 15 different spots along the way, every time I stopped I either caught or culled a fish increasing my limit. I ended up with 23.50 with an 8.17 kicker, enough for Second Place. All my fish came on a Biggie Poppa Crankbait and a 1/2oz Rodstrainer Spinnerbait.
