Delta Fishing Report
The last month on the Delta has been tough but rewarding for quality bites.
The bite has been spotty some days and really good on others. This year for me has been about finding aggressive fish willing to chew reaction baits. Key portions of the tide has been the key for better bites. I have been focusing on areas that are protected from the North and North West winds. The spots have a combination of hard bottom, grass and shallow flat next to deeper water. Ive been fishing areas i don’t normally fish due to the windy conditions. Chatter Baits and Spinner Baits have been the key along with the occasional drop shot fish. The reaction bites are coming over the tops of the grass beds and the drop shot has been on the deep outside grass lines.
The fish have changed drastically over the last week moving more into a Post Spawn mode making things a bit tougher to get bites. Expect a new wave of fish to move up on the Next moon looking to spawn. Top water and heavy punching will start to play soon, but the Spawn will linger for months so expect the bite to be up and down.
