I’ve been out on Don Pedro a couple times the past two weeks. I’ve been finding concentrations of fish but they will only stick around for a couple days then leave. Finding them again can be difficult with the unstable weather and fluctuating water. Catching a lot of fish spitting up orange crayfish. I’ve had some really successful days throwing Underspins, A-rigs, Swavers and Neko rigs.
I went out with Michael Groves and had a big bag in the picture above. Caught a couple nice fish in the morning hopping points and saddles with a underspin and s waver 200. Then rotated two deep ledges close to spawning areas in 25-35 ft. I spent some time graphing to locate them after realizing they backed off my areas I was catching them off of a couple days prior. Bait fish are still super deep 80+ft at Pedro. I’ve had one day where I found the bass chasing the bait in 35 ft but the bait went back out deep a few days later.
If you are looking to catch a number of fish I would recommend throwing neko rigs and dart heads in 5-20ft around spawning areas. Lots of 1 to 2 lbs fish cruising the banks. You can still run into a big one doing this even with a worm.
I will be doing a seminar at Fisherman’s Warehouse megastore in Fairfield on the 12th of this month! I also have some days available this week if anyone is interested in a guide trip.
