The bass fishing in our area is still going strong!!! With the tournament season already here for most of us I’ve been spending all my spare time on Okeechobee getting ready and fishing tournaments. Let me tell you if you haven’t fished Okeechobee now is the time. Right now we’re averaging 40-60 bass a trip ranging from 1lbs-9lbs. Right now it’s taking 22-25lbs out of a 5 fish limit to win a tournament and a 9+ lbs to win big fish of the tournament.
So let’s jump right into Hotspot and what there eating. Right now the casting bite is better than I’ve ever seen before on Okeechobee for this time of year. The Bass Assassin Rail Worm and a 7.5″ worm in red shad or June bug Is the best choice right now. Focus on outside grass lines but don’t be afraid to move deep into the grass if the fish aren’t bitting on the edge. Areas to fish are Kings Bar, Harney pond and The North Shore. The flipping bite has been so-so it a hit or miss but the Bass Assassin HPC in St.Johns Special is the ticket on a 1oz tungsten. Other lakes in our areas that will pick up are Lake Washington, Alligator Chain, Garcia and the Kissimmee Chain try those same techniques and I’m sure you’ll be more successful on the water!!!
