Folsom Lake fishing report.
Today we launched out of Browns to fish the south fork the water was very stained at 56 degrees. We had 15-20 mph south winds with rain so we headed up to New York Creek and spent an hour with no takers. Then we went up further in the arm and the water was just muddy, so we headed back to the mouth of the south arm and Bam!!! Three fish on consecutive casts on an Old Ugly Tube in the back of a cove with flowing water. We tried to key in on coves with the tube and could not repeat the pattern. We then made a move to the north arm in terrible conditions being crashed by waves and pelted by rain in hopes to fill our limit. We started fishing points 0-15′ of water grinding a crank bait across the rocky points landing a fish on either the crank or the tube on almost every point. My buddy Zach Sanders landed a nice smallmouth on the tube at 25′ on the inside of a rocky point… We tossed swim baits jigs and Senkos and they just seemed to be liking the tube rigged on a 1/4 oz darthead.
The shad pattern Norman DD22 is what put the fish in the boat for me today, we didn’t get any big bites and only saw one Largemouth that was barely a keeper. We got off the water at 1pm walking away with an 11-12lb limit with around 15 keepers, so I would have to say its a pretty good bite and seemed to get better later. The 5mph speed limit has been lifted so we can go fast now, the lake is still pretty cold and should really turn on with in the next couple weeks. Thanx for your time.
