RB Bass Outdoors Team member Brian Mackinnon who is a guide on Folsom lake tells us how he has been catching his fish, what baits have been working and the types of structure or areas he has been fishing.

“I have been fishing from the bank out to about 35 feet of water using jerk baits, jigs, A-rigs, dropshots, ned rigs, strolling, topwater and swimbaits. I have been focusing on rock piles and flats both main lake and up the arms on Folsom Lake. Water temps are in the mid 60’s. Water clarity up river arms might be stained due to rain runoff and on main lake should be about 3 to 5ft. Conditions vary due to rain runoff into lake this time of year.

For my spinning rod setup I use 6 pound fluorocarbon and for my baitcasting setups I’ve been using 12 pound fluorocarbon. Having nice gear makes a world of difference. I have been using Dobyns Rods for about 6 years now and have nothing but good things to say about how they perform.
