MODESTO Ca. – The word around town about Lake McClure is that it is on fire, and that the big spotted bass are definitely on the bite. And this is not just hype, or “dock talk”, as many of the tournament organizations that have recently visited this fertile body of water, are seeing some absolutely crazy weights come to their scales.
And Saturday, March 3rd, the Thunder Valley Outdoors/Future Pro Tour will make it’s first stop to the Mother lode area for it’s 10th anniversary season opener to challenge beginning to intermediate level anglers at putting together an effective strategy on Lake McClure, and perhaps end up in the winner’s circle, or at least, walk away with a “last check” that is guaranteed to be worth $200.
Opportunities to capture the 2013 Navionics Cup will be renewed, as Rick Rush and Dave Trimble, newly crowned Navionics Cup Champions for the central valley, enjoy being part of official Navionics promotional team for 2012. And it will be very interesting to see how they fare, and handle the burden of being in the “limelight”, as recognition can also be a major distraction to a team’s focus during competiton. But if you ever plan on moving up to the “next level” of competition, distractions are simply part of the deal.
Also up for grabs is the 2012 Thunder Valley Outdoors/FPT Angler of the Year title for the central valley region – a title that will only be won by the team that is consistent and willing to dedicate themselves to being the best. At season’s end, a total field of only 90 teams will qualify for the Future Pro Tour Classic and a chance to win the keys to a new Ranger Z118/Evinrude package, with Humminbird, and Minn Kota electronics, valued at over $30,000 dollars.
To support anglers that wish to participate in this Saturday’s opening season event, the FPT will host a dynamic seminar which will be held Friday, March 2nd, at C&C Marine in Modesto. Seminar and optional pre-registration activities will be from 4pm to 6pm, where some of the top bass pros from the central valley region will be on hand to provide angler with tips on how to locate fish on Lake McClure in the early spring.
While you are there, you will also have the opportunity to browse through C&C Marine’s newest line up of Ranger Boats, as well as their outstanding selection of tackle. Refreshments will be served, and we will host a free raffle for premium product.
Don’t forget..if you are a new team fishing the FPT you are eligible for our 2 for 1 membership offer which equates to only $20 per angler – for the year on your membership. Membership pays for permits, and insurance, and other administrative costs, so you will never be required to pay a mandatory insurance or permit fee at FPT events.
Late registration for this event will also be taken the morning of the event at Bartlett’s Cove (in front of the store) beginning at 4:00am, and for those of you that may wish to “try out” or fish only one Future Pro Tour event, limited membership fees of just $5 per angler will be available.
So get ready to join us for the central region’s season opener, and be prepared to meet good people and just have fun going fishing!
See you all there!
