The California B.A.S.S. Nation will visit Lake Nacimiento again this year, but the dates are being moved to December.
The Nacimiento tournament is the final one of the 2018 series.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The final tournament of the 2018 California B.A.S.S. Nation series is being rescheduled from Nov. 10-11 to Dec. 8-9 because of a scheduling conflict.
“We regret the date change, but it seems to be the best available option,” said Mark “Chief” Torrez, president of the California B.A.S.S. Nation. “The 2018 B.A.S.S. Nation Championship was just announced, and it conflicts with our final event of the year.”
The 2018 B.A.S.S. Nation Championship is the international competition of all B.A.S.S. Nation clubs. It will be held Nov. 6-10 on Pickwick Lake in Alabama. The international president and youth director conferences will be held concurrently.
The California B.A.S.S. Nation is sending two qualifiers to the championship, Randy Pierson of Oakdale and Luke Johns of Folsom. As president, Torrez will attend the conference, and Mike Landy, who serves as the weighmaster for B.A.S.S. Nation events, will also attend as the state’s youth director.
“Keeping Nacimiento on the schedule as it was would have prevented our 2018 State Team champions from trying to qualify for the 2019 State Team through no fault of their own, and it would have also left us understaffed for the tournament,” said Torrez.
“I hope the change doesn’t create a conflict for our other competitors,” said Torrez.
This tournament will be the last of the 2018 season for the California B.A.S.S. Nation and will be instrumental in determining the 2019 State Team. Qualifiers for the State Team are determined by points, and each individual event winner earns a berth as well.
Registration for the Nacimiento event is already open. To be eligible to compete, each angler must be a member of a B.A.S.S. Nation-affiliated club. To find a club in your area, contact Torrez at (805) 233-0883, or visit www.calbn.com.
