Water temps 66 to 75 deg
Weather, warm, windy, warm and calm with a breeze
Had 2 days to fish the lake with my kid on Spring Break. I look forward to this special time with my kid. This year she used her I Phone to take all the pictures of her dad in this report. We left home with the Dogs and went to chase some Hawgs!
We fished the Main body on day 1 around the south side of the Big Island Area. We found Smallmouth were bedding on every flat with hard gravel. We coverd alot of water fishing the flats and caught Smallmouth Bass on Persuader Jigs in brown and Purple,Senkos in 5″ Green Pumpkin and on Berkley Chigger craws. The wind picked up and we headed to the narrows for safety reason with my kid on board. Not much changed Smallmouth were dominate in all areas, but we did mix the bag with Spotted Bass and a Nice 5lb Largemouth on a Persuader jig. We then headed back twords camp in the Wragg Canyon area to end the day. The wind was strong and the mud lines were dark, Chatter baits slow rolled tight to the bank caught about 12-15 fish to 2lbs in shad colors. All in all a 40-50 fish day easily! on Fire!
Spend time with your Kids they grow fast!

The Second day I was determined to find the Largemouth Bass. I started close to Wragg Canyon since my kid wanted to sleep and I had lost a hour of morning conditions. I found Bass schooling up on bait next to points,I picked up my Spook chucked it in there and BAM a nice 4lb Smallmouth Bass! There was a heard of Spotted Bass chasing this fish to the boat from 4-6 Lbs! After catching a few more on Spooks and Poppers the bait chasing stopped. I turned around and fished a few flat points and fired up on the Smallmouth Bass again, then I found healthy grass and tossed a senko up there and Boom Largemouth! This made me think and off to the Vineyards I went! I found more Schooling bait fish being chased. I continued to throw a Spook and had a blast catching fish up to 7 lbs. In between the bait busting I would fish Senko’s around grassy areas in 3-6 feet of water for Largemouth Bass. These areas are very isolated and you must look to find them. I saw very few Largemouth Bass on beds. They have mostly finished and are on to Post Spawn mode. This day we boated 40-50 fish again what a blast ! You have to move around and find the fish, they are all near bait! Enjoy the Pictures by Amber Howe!
