Took a half day trip to Lake Berryessa, havent been there in a few years. Met up with fellow Rb Bass staffer Randy Walker.
We arrived at 11am and started off on a deep wall in the narrows to catch a few spotted bass shaking worms. Then we headed out to the main body of the lake. We fished offshore and shallow. Our best luck came shallow. We caught Largemouth bass in the 3-3.25lb range on craw pattern crankbaits. We then headed to a point and started shaking worms, We lost a big one! Never got to see her…Then tick tick Bam Randy sticks a 3lber on a shakey head! I follwed that up with a small male largemouth. After a few short bites we moved back offshore and fished a hump. I was able to get a nice smallmouth bass at the 4lb mark! All in all for a short trip we had a good day we had about 14.5 lbs for 5 fish. we hit the Berryessa cyle and caught 3 species of bass. Once the weather warms this place will really light up!
