So Chris Perez and I fished the Lake County Chamber of Commerce last week with Bob Tyler, Greg Bunting, John and Monica Hampel, Rick Novotny and Armand Perez. Our RB little impromptu gave us lots of laughs, great BS dock talk, whiskey, great food like Elk Chili Dogs, Lasagna, and Smoked Tri-tip Tacos! The only thing missing was the rest of our RB Brothers and Sisters!

Pre-fishing Thursday and Friday found us in bad weather, actually taking waves over the

bow on the trolling motor. Winds were at 20-25 and gusting over 40. Talk about being beat up.

Come game day, the weather was exactly opposite, thank God, which led to a great tournament for all 111 boats with some Big Sticks in the field.

Day 1 we ran our water from the previous week due to pre-fish being blown out. We threw all the usual baits, and the grind began. I would like to say we hooked up right and left, but in truth Day 1 produced maybe 8 bites, but they were decent fish weighing in with 23.40 with a 5.29 big fish, which put us in 9th.

Day 2 found us sitting on the water at blast off, feeling anxious and nevous. We had more water to fish that we didn’tfish on day 1, and we began the grind again. Once, again, the bites were sporadic, and i don’t think we had more than 10 all day, but again, they were good fish. Unfortunately, Chris missed a few really good ones, but that’s fishing. For me, I was sick (long story) most of the day and wasn’t much help. High five to Chris for picking up my slack, I appreciate it.

On Day 2, we weighed in 24.57, with a big fish of 5.58 for a total of 47.97 lbs for 7th place. Missed first place by 7.76 lbs, but we cashed a check. That says it all!
